Welcome To Cedar City Utah & Iron County

Located in the foothills of southwestern Utah along I-15, about 270 miles south of Salt Lake City and 170 miles northeast of Las Vegas, NV. With over 20,500 people, Cedar City is the major population area of Iron County.

Set amid some of the most beautiful country in the world, Cedar City is within easy driving distance of five national parks, numerous state parks and some of the best hunting and fishing in Utah.

Average annual precipitation is 10 inches, average annual snowfall is 40 inches, average growing season is 143 days, and average days of sunshine is 300. Humidity is very low.

Shopping and retail opportunities include 2 projects that are adding an additional 490,000 sq ft of retail space to the Cedar City area. The downtown area is also going through major changes and renovations as 40,000 sq ft of retail space are being built to surround a new 1,000-seat community theater.

Residents enjoy excellent educational opportunities at all levels. Cedar City has a private college and Southern Utah University. The university also provides a rich cultural environment for the performing arts with frequent visits from nationally and internationally acclaimed artists, performers and speakers.

Valley View Medical Center has been named a national "Top 100 Hospital" for 3 consecutive years and the new hospital will be an excellent complement to the high quality care delivered in our community. The new Valley View Medical Center, under construction, will add an additional 95,000 sq ft.

The Dixie National Forest occupies almost two million acres and stretches for about 170 miles across southern Utah. Activities include camping, picnicking, hiking, backpacking, hunting, fishing, boating, swimming, rock hounding, snowmobiling and skiing.

Brian Head ski resort has Utah's highest base elevation. Zion National Park is 56 miles southeast of Cedar City. Spectacular Bryce Canyon is 79 miles northeast of Cedar City. Five of the most serene fishing spots in southern Utah are within an hour of Cedar City: Panguitch Lake, Navajo Lake, Yankee Meadows Reservoir, Duck Creek and Aspen Mirror Lake. Lake Powell is about 160 miles to the east.

Fine dining and lodging, tennis, golf, swimming, mountain biking and numerous other activities are available. Horses, rodeos and riding are big in southern Utah. This is great country for horse lovers with miles of open country and mountain trails for riding.
