Cerro Copper has invested nearly $50
million dollars in land, equipment and buildings for its new
manufacturing and distribution facility. The company chose Cedar City
based on the area's ideal location and intense commitment to the
project. Cerro's plant is one of several manufacturing projects that
are scheduled to be fully operational within 2002.
Attracted by the relaxed lifestyle and salutary
climate, a heavy influx of retired seniors is creating increased opportunities
in a variety of services.
Shopping and retail
opportunities include 2 projects that are adding an additional 490,000
sq ft of retail space to the Cedar City area. The Providence Center
includes a Super Wal-Mart, restaurants, Cinema 8 Theaters and many
other businesses to serve Iron County's 89,000 shoppers, more than one
million visitors each year and the five million vehicles that travel
I-15. The entrance is marked by an 88-foot lighthouse, the largest
inland lighthouse in the United States. The Cedar City downtown area
is also going through major changes and renovations as 40,000 sq ft of
retail space are being built to surround a new 1,000-seat community
theater.
