Cedar Area Transportation Service (CATS)


CATS is comprised of two differing services:
  1. Routed and timed buses for use by all in Cedar City, including the disabled.
  2. Dial-A-Ride paratransit vans, for use by the elderly (65 and older) and disabled.
Hours of operation are from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 6:30 pm Saturdays. For more information click for the schedule and map.

Airport

The regional airport is within one mile of the Cedar City Industrial Park and located directly next to the Airport Industrial Park. Regular flights are offered to Salt Lake City on Delta's Sky West Airlines.

Railroad

Rail access, provided by Union Pacific, is county-wide and offers a 21-mile branch. A common dock is available to manufacturers in Cedar City, about two miles from the Industrial Park. Contact Dick Rauschmeier, business manager, at 435-387-2291 or 435-387-2231.

Trucking

Cedar City is a hub city to many common freight carriers including Yellow Freight, Consolidated Freightways, Motor Cargo, and Valley Cargo. Published federal tariff rates are about $1.25 per mile, but all freight companies will negotiate much better rates. Several private carriers are available in the city and the area to meet your transportation needs. Local freight companies range in size from Parker-Cox of St. George with a fleet of some 50 trucks to smaller carriers such as Mountain West Milk Transport.

Overnight

All major overnight express carriers such as Airborne Express, Federal Express, UPS and Pony Express serve the Cedar City/ Iron County area. UPS and Fed-Ex run hub operations at the Cedar City Regional Airport with stationed aircraft for daily service.
